The San Diego Architectural Foundation is pleased to announce we are partnering with prize-winning AIA architect Kevin deFreitas and San Diego Home/Garden Lifestyles Magazine for exclusive tours of Casa Futura, a new house for green design ideas and smart home technology. All Southern Californians will have an opportunity to visit this Point Loma home in San Diego - a showcase for green and smart living.
Features of the home include radiant floor heating; high-velocity ultra-efficient furnace, tankless water heater, self-expanding foam insulation, solar roof, Energy Star appliances, natural ventilation that makes A/C unnecessary, automated window blinds, dual glazed windows with film to reduce UV and infrared exposure, venting skylights, computer-controlled lighting system, ultra-efficient LED lighting systems, smart irrigation systems (in which sensors detect ground moisture and control water accordingly), and a system that captures and filters gray water for reuse in the drought-tolerant garden.
This ground breaking project will effectively drive home the point that thoughtful design can be accomplished in concert with earth-friendly goals without sacrificing comfort, function or aesthetics.
